Harry Brook has withdrawn from IPL 2025
England star batter Harry Brook pulled himself out of IPL 2025 just 12 days before the start, he could get a 2-year ban from IPL as per the new law by the IPL committee.
England’s middle-order batter Harry Brook has withdrawn from the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) to focus on his national team commitments. Brook, who was bought by the Delhi Capitals for INR 6.25 Crore in the November mega auction, now risks a two-season IPL ban for pulling out for the second consecutive year.
Under a new IPL rule, players who make themselves unavailable after being picked in the auction—without injury or medical reasons—face a two-season ban from the tournament and future auctions. Last year, Brook withdrew due to a bereavement, and he has only participated in one IPL season, in 2023 with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
In a social media statement, Brook explained, “It’s an important time for England cricket, and I need to focus on upcoming series. After the busiest period of my career, I need time to recharge. I understand not everyone will agree, but my priority is playing for my country.”
Brook’s decision highlights his commitment to England’s cricketing schedule but has sparked discussions about balancing international and franchise cricket responsibilities.
