Gujarat's Urvil Patel sets record with two T20 centuries in under 40 balls
Urvil Patel smashed the second fastest 100 in all T20 Cricket.
After six days of delivering the fastest T20 hundred by an Indian in just 28 balls, Urvil Patel who is the Gujarat opener gave the team another century in just 36 balls against Uttrakhand.
Chasing the target of 183 runs, Patel again showcased his best skills and put the Uttrakhand team in shock and gave Gujrat victory in just 13.1 overs and eight overs were still left. Patel finished the entire innings in just 41 runs and scored 115 runs consists of eight fours and eleven sixes.
And this second century made him the first batter to give two T20 centuries under 40 balls only.
Interestingly, Urvil Patel had already hit a 28-ball century in a similar run chase just last week at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore. In that game, Gujarat was chasing 156 against Tripura and wrapped it up in just 10.2 overs. Patel stayed unbeaten on 113 off 35 balls, smashing 12 sixes and seven fours with an incredible strike rate of 322.86. This is one of the fastest T20 centuries ever, second only to Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan, who scored a 27-ball hundred against Cyprus earlier this year.
Just before that year, Urvil made the second quickest List A hundred by taking only 41 balls that was against Arunachal Pradesh.
Urvil Patel is only 26 years old and part of the Gujrat Titans team for the IPL 2023 season as he sold for 20 lakhs. He was released by his franchise ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. In the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, Patel was listed as Player No. 212 with a base price of ₹30 lakh but went unsold.
