Gardner makes the top 3 in ODI batting, bowling, and all-rounder lists
Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner has regained the number one spot for all-rounders and attained a career-best second position among batters in the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings after her match-winning performances.
Ashleigh Gardner is having a sensational Women's World Cup 2025, delivering performances that few all-rounders in cricket history male or female have ever matched. Her dominance with both bat and ball has placed her among the top three in the ICC ODI rankings for batters, bowlers, and all-rounders. That’s an incredibly rare achievement, showing just how complete her game has been this tournament.
Gardner has been a key reason behind Australia’s unbeaten run so far. She’s scored 265 runs at a staggering average of 88.33, with a strike rate of 128.01. With the ball, her offspin has brought seven wickets at an average of 30.00. But it’s not just the numbers it’s when and how she’s delivered that makes her stand out.
Against New Zealand, Australia were in trouble at 128 for 5. Gardner stepped up and smashed 115 off just 83 balls, lifting the team to a strong total of 326. Then came another clutch moment against England. Chasing 245, Australia were wobbling at 86 for 4. Gardner joined Annabel Sutherland, and together they put on an unbeaten 180-run stand. Gardner finished with 104 not out off 73 balls, sealing the win with 57 balls to spare.
These match-winning knocks have pushed Gardner up six spots in the ICC rankings, from No. 8 to No. 2 among ODI batters now only behind India’s Smriti Mandhana. She remains the No. 1 allrounder and holds the No. 3 spot among bowlers.
Meanwhile, England’s Sophie Ecclestone continues to lead the bowlers’ chart. Australia’s Alana King has also made headlines, jumping five spots to No. 2 after her record-breaking 7 for 18 against South Africa the best figures ever in a Women’s World Cup match.
