England's Wood Ruled Out of Second Test with Fresh Knee Injuries
England fast bowler Mark Wood missed a training session on November 29, raising doubts about his availability for the second Ashes test due to concerns over his troublesome left knee.
England quick bowler Mark Wood is set to miss the second Ashes Test against Australia in Brisbane. The news is a major setback for the team, as Wood is struggling with soreness in his left knee—the same knee that forced him out of cricket for nearly nine months.
The 35-year-old had only just returned to the Test match arena in the first match in Perth, which was his first competitive game since February. However, after bowling just 11 overs in the loss to Australia, his knee has flared up again.
-Wood is dealing with an issue in his left knee, which required surgery back in March.
- England officials are taking a cautious approach. They do not expect him to be fit in time for the Day/Night Test starting this Thursday, but hope he will recover to play a part later in the five-match series.
- Wood’s high-speed bowling is key to England's plan. His absence is a big blow as they try to fight back from a 1-0 deficit against a strong Australian side.
Josh Tongue is the most likely player to replace Wood for the pink-ball Test at the Gabba.
