Bangladesh vs Ireland: A 5.5-magnitude earthquake caused a brief but intense pause in the ongoing second Test between Bangladesh and Ireland at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
The second Test between Bangladesh and Ireland at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka was briefly stopped on Day 3 after an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale shook the city and nearby areas.
The tremor struck during the second ball of the 56th over of Ireland’s first innings. Play was halted for about three to four minutes as players quickly moved towards the boundary and spectators showed visible panic in the stands.
After the situation had settled, the match resumed. At that stage, Ireland were 233/7 in 78 overs, still trailing Bangladesh’s first-innings score of 476 by 243 runs.
