Continuous rain disrupts opening day in Bengaluru
Rain ensured that no play was possible on the opening day of the first Test between India and New Zealand at Bengaluru
Because of the continuous rain in Bengaluru, there will be no opening day today between India and New Zealand at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The decision to call off the match has been taken after 2 PM on Wednesday.
Constant light and heavy drizzles throughout the day made the Sub-Air system, which can absorb up to 10,000 litres of water per minute, almost useless. The toss is now set for 8:45 AM on Thursday, with the match expected to start at 9:15 AM, if the weather allows.
More rain is forecasted for the rest of the day in Bengaluru, which is already under an Orange Alert. Schools are closed, and offices have been advised to work from home.
