BCCI files a complaint with the ICC against Farhan and Rauf

Rauf had gestures 6-0 in reference to Pak's unfounded claim against downing Indian jets while Farhan, on the other hand, had done mocked gun shot firing using his bat post reaching his 50 in the same match.

The BCCI has officially complained to the ICC about Pakistan players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for their gestures during the Asia Cup Super Fours match in Dubai last Sunday. The complaint was sent via email on Wednesday, and the ICC has confirmed receiving it.

The issue revolves around Farhan’s celebration after reaching his half-century and Rauf’s gestures toward fans while fielding near the boundary. Both moments have been widely shared on social media. If the players deny the charges, they may have to appear before match referee Richie Richardson for a hearing.

India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate commented on the situation, saying the pressure on players in such high-stakes games makes it tough to control emotions. “I saw what Haris did, but that’s not our concern. We’re proud of how our guys handled themselves and responded with the bat,” he said.

Meanwhile, the PCB has filed its own complaint against India captain Suryakumar Yadav. After India’s win over Pakistan on September 14, Suryakumar dedicated the victory to the families of victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. The PCB claims his comments were political and inappropriate for a cricket match.

That game had already drawn attention for the lack of handshakes between captains and players, sparking what fans are calling “handshakegate.” The second meeting between the two sides saw more heated moments, including exchanges between Pakistan fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, and Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill.

With both boards filing complaints, the ICC now has to decide how to handle the situation. For now, the focus remains on keeping the tournament fair and respectful, even as emotions run high.
