Ashwin enrolls for the 2025 Hong Kong Sixes
Hong Kong Cricket has confirmed that former India off-spinner R. Ashwin will take part in the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 for Team India.
Ravichandran Ashwin is set to return to competitive cricket in a brand-new format. Cricket Hong Kong, China, announced on Thursday that the veteran Indian allrounder has signed up for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025, a fast-paced six-a-side tournament scheduled from November 7 to 9.
This will likely be Ashwin’s first appearance since retiring from the IPL, and his inclusion adds serious star power to Team India’s lineup. At 39, Ashwin brings not just experience but also tactical brilliance to a format known for its explosive entertainment. The tournament will feature 12 teams, with other Indian squad members to be revealed soon.
Burji Shroff, chairperson of Hong Kong Cricket, welcomed Ashwin with high praise: “His presence elevates the tournament to a whole new level. The Sixes is about innovation, entertainment, and world-class talent and Ashwin embodies all of these.”
Ashwin himself expressed excitement about joining the event: “We’ve all watched the HK Sixes growing up. It’s a thrilling format that demands a different strategy. I’m looking forward to playing alongside my ex-teammates and facing quality opponents. It’ll be a good challenge.”
Alongside India and hosts Hong Kong, England, Australia, and South Africa are among the confirmed participants in this three-day, six-over-per-side spectacle. With Ashwin in the mix, fans can expect a blend of smart cricket and high-octane action.
