Fast bowler Anrich Nortje has returned to South Africa’s squad for the T20I series against India, to be held from December 9-19, while batter Rubin Hermann has earned a call‑up for the ODI leg of the tour taking place from November 30 to December 6.
Fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been named in South Africa’s T20I squad for the upcoming five-match series in India, starting December 9. This will be Nortje’s first international game since the 2024 T20 World Cup final in Barbados. His return strengthens a squad that is almost full-strength as South Africa prepare for next year’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Aiden Markram will captain the T20I side. The squad also includes Ottneil Baartman, along with Test regulars Tony de Zorzi, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, and Tristan Stubbs.
In the ODI series, which will be played between November 30 and December 6 in Ranchi, Raipur, and Vizag, Temba Bavuma returns as captain. Nortje is not part of the ODI squad, but Quinton de Kock, who recently came out of retirement, has been included in both formats.

Star pacer Kagiso Rabada is not part of the white-ball leg as he is recovering from a rib injury. He will return home after the Guwahati Test for a four-week rehabilitation program.
Head coach Shukri Conrad said the tour is important to finalise combinations ahead of the T20 World Cup. He added that while Rabada will be missed, the squad has good depth, and Nortje’s return is a big boost. Conrad also mentioned that the ODIs will help shape the team for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The T20I series will be played in Cuttack, Mullanpur, Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad after the ODIs.
