17-0: India stretch unbeaten streak to 17 matches in multi-nation T20 events
T20I Stats: India created history in the ACC Asia Cup 2025 with a thrilling 5-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the final. The team has now won four of the last five Asia Cup competitions.
17-0: India has played 18 matches in multi-nation T20 tournaments since 2023. They won the Asian Games in 2023 in China, where the final was cancelled due to rain, and they won because of their higher ranking. Last year, they became the first team to win a T20 World Cup without losing any matches in the Caribbean and the USA. They also had a perfect record in the Asia Cup 2025, winning one game in a Super Over.
5-8: India's record against Pakistan in finals across different formats shows that they have won three key matches. India won in the Benson & Hedges World Series in Melbourne in 1985, the Independence Cup in Dhaka in 1998 (where they took the best-of-three finals 2-1), and the World T20 in Johannesburg in 2007. With their recent victory, India has now claimed the Asia Cup title nine times, which includes seven in ODIs and two in T20Is. This is the most titles by any team and their fourth win in the last five tournaments.
81.25% India has a success rate of 81.25% against Pakistan in T20 matches, including Super Over results. Among Full Member teams that have played at least 15 matches against each other, only two other match-ups are more one-sided: India vs Bangladesh and Pakistan vs Zimbabwe.
9-0: India has a perfect record of 9-0 against Pakistan in T20I run chases, making it the highest number of wins without a loss against a single opponent. The previous record was eight wins by Malaysia against Thailand, while among Full Member teams, India has a 7-0 record against Bangladesh.
As for Pakistan, they had a dramatic collapse, going from 113 runs for 1 wicket in the 13th over to a final total of 146 runs, losing 9 wickets in the process. This is only the third time a Full Member team has collapsed like this after scoring over 100 runs with just one wicket down, with Sri Lanka experiencing similar collapses twice. Pakistan's batsmen, excluding the openers, only managed to score 36 runs collectively, which is their lowest total in an all-out innings in T20Is, with the previous low being 38 against Zimbabwe in 2021.
Pakistan lost 8 wickets to spinners, the most they have ever lost in a T20I match. Previously, they lost six wickets to spin in a match on seven occasions. During the Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan lost a total of 30 wickets to spin over seven matches, which is the highest for any Full Member team in a single tournament, surpassing England's 29 wickets lost in a five-match series earlier this year.
Kuldeep Yadav reached new heights in this Asia Cup. He took 17 wickets, which is the joint highest for any player from a Full Member team in this competition. He matched the record set by Fazalhaq Farooqi and Arshdeep Singh, who also took 17 wickets in the T20 World Cup last year.
Kuldeep has taken 36 wickets in Asia Cups across both ODIs and T20Is, which is the highest by any player, beating Lasith Malinga's record of 33 wickets. He has 19 wickets in 11 Asia Cup ODIs and 17 wickets in T20I matches.
His bowling figures of 4/30 are the third-best in a T20I final between Full Member teams, following Mohammad Nawaz's 5/19 against Afghanistan in Sharjah and Ajantha Mendis' 4/12 against West Indies in the World T20 in 2012.
Since December 2023, Kuldeep has taken 34 wickets in 15 T20Is. Only four other bowlers have taken more wickets in 15 consecutive T20Is, and Rashid Khan is the only one from a Full Member country to do so. The previous record for the longest streak was held by Varun Chakravarthy, who took 33 wickets before the group stage match against Pakistan.
